ELEANOR MATTHEWS
A selection of recent work
I work in collage and ink on paper, and have recently been experimenting with postcard sized work as well as larger scale, due to the challenges of working from the kitchen table during lockdown!
I am interested in the stories and atmosphere of places. Working with other artists and communities is important to my practice.
Contact me if you are interested in collaborations or commissions!
During the pandemic I have initiated these projects:
- Post Art - artists from County Durham and further afield have sent postcards to each other and to people in need of a morale boost during the Covid-19 crisis. Together we've sent over 1000 postcards to other artists, carers, care homes, bin men, hospitals, local shop staff. More information soon on our upcoming exhibition!
– Pushing Paper - a Post Art response to the British Museum Pushing Paper exhibition which was on at the Oriental Museum Durham, and so couldn't be seen during lockdown. I invited artists to send a postcard in response to an image which I randomly selected from the exhibition catalogue - see the results in the online exhibition here
- Street Gallery - you've probably already read about that one on here :)
